Within a recipe, the Recipe Information tab contains all core information for the recipe, accessed via a series of navigation tabs. Using this tab will allow you to update details as required, including photos; detailed descriptions; category information; methods...and more! Features here will depend on your profile set up. This article will cover the most popular areas.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Description & Photo

The Description & Photo tab is where you can add/view/update basic recipe details.

From here you can:

  • View the unique associated Recipe ID - this will appear once a new recipe has been saved
This ID number can be used in searches, and may be requested by the Pi Helpdesk in the event of a query.
  • View the date that the recipe was created and the author
If a recipe has been modified, this will also show who by and when.
  • Choose to lock/unlock a recipe
    This option is profile dependant.
  • Add a detailed description for the recipe
A good description can help entice diners!
  • Upload and rotate photos
For new recipes, click the Choose a file button.

Photo requirements are:
Maximum file size: 4MB
Supported file types: PNG/JPG

Categorisation

The Categorisation tab is used to view and update the associated menu, category, subcategory and tags.

For further information about creating and managing these options (and how to apply them to multiple recipes at the same time), select an option below:

Here, you can see existing categorisation selections and use checkboxes/drop-down lists to change them.

Method and Directions

The Method and directions tab is used to write instructions for making a recipe. This is a simple text editor window with basic formatting options. You can add numbered/bulleted lists, embolden/italicise text, and remove formatting.

If you are copying and pasting from another website, we recommend pasting into a MS Word document first.

Availability and Pricing

The Availability and pricing tab is used to choose where a recipe is available (i.e. which sites can see/use it) and to set retail pricing. This is best controlled by a user within the organisation who has access to all sites within the customer group.

Here, sites are listed with the system-calculated cost price for a recipe. Sites available are dependant on your Pi profile. For any site, you can:

  • Tick/untick the Available checkbox to determine if the recipe is available at that site
  • Use the Retail price, VAT rate and GP fields to either...
    1. Set the required retail price and VAT rate to calculate the gross profit
    2. Set a required gross profit and VAT rate to calculate the retail price

HACCP

The HACCP tab is used to view/update Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point notes associated with the recipe. When editing HACCP text, the simple text editor provides basic formatting options. You can add numbered/bulleted lists, embolden/italicise text, and remove formatting.

Here, you can:

  • View/edit your organisation's default notes, which are applied to all recipes as standard. To use this feature, click the HACCP notes for all recipes Edit link
Keep in mind that any changes made here are applied for ALL recipes, not just this one.
  • For specific HACCP notes required for a recipe, enter these in the lower panel for HACCP notes for this recipe only

EPOS Integration

The Epos integration tab is only required for systems where an Epos integration is in place. In this case, specific guidance will be provided. Contact your Account Manager if this is something you are interested in.

Recipe Ingredient Labels

From 1 October 2021, any business that produces pre-packed food for direct sale (PPDS) is required to label packaging with the name of the food and a full ingredients list, emphasising any allergenic ingredients.

If a recipe is for a PPDS item, use the Recipe ingredient labels tab. Selecting the This is a Pre-Packed for Direct Sale (PPDS) item checkbox will display further options.

For more context about PPDS Recipes, see our PPDS Recipes article.
